An individual self catering cottage on the edge of the Peak District ideal for short breaks and longer stays. Sleeps up to four people in two bedrooms.
Rose Cottage provides luxury holiday accommodation in a double fronted, 18th Century framework knitters' cottage. Set in a quiet hillside location within the Village of Bonsall Conservation Area, enjoying an idyllic rural location in glorious countryside. It has recently been renovated to a high standard mixing contemporary and traditional features with original beams and stonework, flagged floors and sash windows. It has full central heating enhanced by a traditional stone fireplace incorporating a modern wood-burning stove. There is a spacious dining-kitchen area with an adjoining utility room for walking gear.
Rose Cottage is over two hundred and fifty years old and located in the historic village of Bonsall, approximately five miles from Matlock and fifteen miles from Derby. Bonsall has a long history of lead mining going back to Roman times, and is mentioned in the Domesday Book. The cottage was originally a set of working buildings carved into rock, one of many of the unique quirky houses situated in the village.
There are miles of excellent walking and cycling routes right outside the front door. Bakewell and Buxton are not far away as are the excellent shopping cities of Sheffield and Derby. The homes of the Devonshires' and the Sitwells' are not that far away too - at Chatsworth House and Renishaw. |
